It’s been an exciting time and we have so much to share since I last stepped out from behind the emails.

Our giant mushrooms made there debut back in March in a welcome to wonderland themed event

With flamingos ‘on trend’ in true JezO’s Events style we’ve gone oversized!

Our two giant flamingos have been perched at many events already….though when not out on hire I get to share an office with these two pink wading birds!!

So following St. George’s Day event season officially kicked off!

Hollywood themed events in Canary Wharf, duck races, corporate 20 year celebrations.

Staging hires, staging and MORE staging hires.

PA hires, PA and more PA hires..

We do BIG stages and BIG sound. Trust me… HQ is filled with it!

So this is me.

There’s planning, planning, art work, planning, logistics, meetings, bookings, quotes and more logistics….

I am happy in front of my computer screen replying to enquiries and getting to have a conversation with those who leave voicemails awaiting my return call however when asked I love to leave my office chair and drive a van to site. The bigger the van the better.

Just don’t ask me to park it!

And notice is always preferable…..van driving, loading and unloading aren’t top of the list when choosing the days outfit for office…

There’s only so much an office girl can do on site in boots with heels!

As the heatwave continues on the energy bills are sufficiently reduced without the need of having two heaters under my desk…..

now when looking at the CCTV I can feel the sunshine from the tv screen enjoying my latest playlist for company as I plough through event risk assessments, but when encouraged out to join the field team I have demanded a Cinderella curfew!

Midnight.

We have some of the most amazing guys with us on ‘JezO’s’ events. The pure professionalism and dedication that everyone gives to #teamjezos! Is exceptional.

On site banter, teamwork and delivering above and beyond.

I love event logistics!

I get to pick up the phone, call and text our network of crew and technicians who tirelessly work crazy hours behind the scenes building the event….

Then delivering the event where throughout are on hand to face anything that comes up…

Then into the night to de-rig and load your event back into the vans… all ready to start again before sun rises the next morning.

Each bring their own flair and skill and we love having each and every one of the boys as part of the JezO’s family….. it makes me very proud to have such talented guys within our network of contacts who help us bring together such a vast range of events that fills our diary.

Plus it’s always great when crew and technicians pop into HQ for a cup of tea… I get a very much needed break for a chat! Though I’m not sure the boss would agree! #unproductive

So what’s left for the summer season??

Multi stage Festivals, music days, village days, fetes, carnivals, gala days, colour dash’s, fairs, corporate family fun days, themed parties, charity events, garden parties, corporate celebrations, live music, graduation parties….

And of course to throw in the excitement and planning of the roots of the business and the involvement in the upcoming wonders of Magic! The Tour.

Peek season is well underway…

If you call the office and I do not answer or email me and I don’t reply immediately……..I send my huge apologies, I am out of the office, quite likely to be driving a van… or in a field….but please leave a voicemail or await my email reply….. As the girl behind the emails that so many clients, contacts and suppliers receive from me, I want to share a little more about what goes on in the world of JezO’s Events.

This is me.

I Complain constantly about the amount of spam that fills my inbox, most of the time to myself as the rest of the team are out doing actual work.

I get to talk to so many interesting people though hidden behind a computer screen.

I get asked weird and wonderful questions, each one as important as the last and personal to each individual, I find it so very rewarding that I am the one able to send the reassurance or give the answer needed all through chosen font.

They say time flies when you are having fun! but how are we now in March already? It only seems like yesterday we had peace and quiet at HQ whilst the boss went off to pantomime. And now here we are already a quarter of the way through the year.

2018 has already been very eventful for team JezO’s. The first quarter has certainly had its ups and downs. With corporate winter parties @awards @magicandwizardry to name just a couple, we worked alongside some amazing external suppliers including Jaun J Marino photography, raptor foundation, Meet pete. Not forgetting the vehicle break in whilst on site.

Thank you for the huge support in sharing this, we are still awaiting the footage that can be used publicly but on behalf of the whole JezO’s team we really appreciate the vast numbers of people who are willing to help us ‘shame’ the persons who took such personal items and equipment from us.

Refreshers balls, meetings for future endeavours, corporate events, magic shows….magic meetings…. its a very odd but completely exciting bubble to be in.

Oh and Josh, our technical support/full time event guy and a huge part of the core team passed his PAT testing training and is now qualified with City and Guilds! We are very proud….and now have the ability to PAT test equipment in house. #gojosh!

And then the Beast of the East arrives… just in time for one of our most historical but creative events of the year! Sadly postponed for a week so I can not reveal anything as yet. But as our stock of giant props grows as does the adventures at HQ. A recent addition was our giant snowmen, penguins and reindeers. Very relevant for the past few days feeling like a scene from Frozen, taking every opportunity to steal all of the heaters for my desk when no one else is around.

So the team are excited!

I am flat out prepping and planning, we have so much to share with you this year and I cant wait to do so, but just in case you have a question, are hosting an event and need some advice or looking for contacts and suppliers, you know what to do…send me an email!!

27 ideas to help you create your own amazing events that can be achieved with the smallest of budgets.

We come across many events of all different scales where the planners have unique and intriguing ideas but no budget to match.

Not every element of the event has to cost a fortune, Just add a little bit of creativity to your event planning and leave your guests impressed.

Promote your Brand

1. Give your guests a branded item for their attendance, whether it be a lanyard or a t-shirt with the event name on it, have your logo printed so everyone can see it.

2. Include your logo in with your catering, decorate cupcakes to include your logo or event name, use sweet bags or candy floss bags with your logo on.

3. Project your brand around the venue with a customised logo, point this at walls ceilings on the floor and you have instant advertising for your brand.

4. Use Printing at the venue entrance or around side stalls to promote your brand.

5. Get your guests to post on Facebook and Twitter and share your event on social media. Give your event a hashtag. #fatherdayfamilyfun

6. E- Newsletters. Keep your guests up to date and provide all of the information they need to know for the event by creating an E-newsletter group. A great site for providing this form of marketing is Mailchimp

7. As well as banners and posters another great way to promote your event is to create clothing to include the event name and details. It is a great way to get guests talking and raising interest in the event.

 Lighting

8. Use Fairy lights in fish bowls or jars as table centres, also lighting up the inside of your venue.

9. Drape fairy lights across the ceiling to create a canopy or use them draped down walls

10. Use coloured festoon bulbs either inside or outside to add colour to the venue

11. Light up the outside of the building or entrance to give an instant WOW! factor for when your guests arrive

22. Add fairy lights to existing features in the venue and create a focal point.

23. Avoid additional costs of theming an event and keep it simple yet sophisticated by choosing a colour. Gold or Black and White are very popular.

24. Add Photo opportunity areas. A great way to offer an additional activity for your guests. Ask them to post on social media to also raise awareness of your event.

25. Add characters to your event. If you are planning a themed event have someone dress up in character. This can often add humour to the event and a great idea for both family events and adults only.

26. Provide giant garden games. These can be hired in or even created on your own. A simple coconut shy or Tin Can alley adds fun and competition toe event.

27. Bring in a Caricaturist or close up magician to provide entertainment for your guests. Although this can sometimes be quite costly, it provides a great talking point.

Just by being a little bit creative with what is available can be achieved and take the pressure off of event planning with even the smallest of budgets.

Have you ever walked into a venue and thought ‘WOW! This looks amazing’. It is most probably down to the lighting. Your guests will also be thinking the same thing.

With the use of effective lighting, it will instantly create a mood that is right for your event. Read on for 8 ways to make your event glow whatever type of event you are planning.

Use lighting to enhance the beauty of historical buildings in a way that will complement the property and its surroundings. If your event has a theme or colour scheme throw in a sample of this on your architectural lighting. As your guests arrive, you will most certainly leave them with great first impressions of what is to follow after they have parked the car.

As well as architectural lighting, use lighting to light up those grand trees around the venue, so as well as ‘painting’ the walls with lighting there are focal points around the grounds, enhancing the mood of your event. Getting creative with lighting by defining walkways in a field will draw attention and give atmosphere to the whole setting.

Light up the stars on stage effectively, be it in a theatre production, dance act or band at a festival. The right lighting adds to the atmosphere, whether it be a basic lighting set up or a more complex set up with a lighting technician. By including special effects, such as lasers and fog machines this will really create a stage performance the audience can not take their eyes off of.

Get creative with decorative lighting, the ideas are endless, light up set pieces to suit a theme of your event adding to the atmosphere. Use LED furniture to give your event a modern twist from poseur tables. Hang grand chandeliers from the ceiling or use mirror balls to project light around the room by aiming a spot light at them. Light the ceilings and floors with customised lighting that included branding or images and colours suited to your theme.

We all love fairy lights and festoon! These little bulbs have the capability of turning any area into a magical wonderland or why not add coloured bulbs to the festoon to create that carnival feel. Use Festoon to its full advantage as well as being visually effective, define walkways and outdoor areas keeping your guests safe and contained.

Are you planning an open outdoor event? Use flood lighting across your site, whether it is to be placed around the event site or to light up signs. Create a safe route to the car park or entrance and exit. Keep your guests safe with sufficient lighting.

Who would not want a giant LED colour changing countdown structure at their event? What better way to see in the new year or build up the suspense for this years fireworks display to begin? I am already excited as the display starts to count backwards from 10. Most certainly a must have piece of lighting for an outdoor event.

Personalise your event by adding customised lighting. If you are planning a corporate party, project your brand or logo on the floor or ceiling of the venue. If you are planning a themed party use customised lighting to add depth to your theme. For example for a Winter wonderland party use Snowflake Gobos projected around the room or for a James Bond themed event use a 007 image projected around the venue.

When given the theme to provide décor for an event is always an exciting time. The cogs start turning and the creativity juices start flowing, ideas are thrown around on how the venue can be transformed so that when the guests arrive their first response is ‘WOW!’

The theme for an event last week was of the historic figure of Louis XIV, Sun King of France. The reaction was not quite the usual, to say the least. More deep thought and a lot of research… which was then followed by the excitement! This was an opportunity to create something very special and very unique.

With two Flambeaux, we now have in stock and a fire dancer to entertain the arriving guests. Fire filled the entrance.

The corridor was transformed, using carpet on the floor giving it a look of grass, shrubbery filled the ceiling and draped down walls with a working water fountain lit with green uplighters, really brought the gardens indoors.

Outside saw the LED colour changing dancing water as guests looked out of the windows of the corridor.

The Giant Chandelier was hung in the centre of the hall, whilst mirrored wall panels were placed along the walls, creating the grand Ballroom.

The Dining rooms was transformed into a banquet hall fit for a king, with giant candelabras and images of staff in French artwork.

On this event the clock was turned back in time and the results were visually stunning, leaving guests to experience the unique 1700’s France themed event.

We stock props and set pieces for many themes and can also create bespoke pieces to suit any theme.

Why would we not? we have been doing so since the ancient times, where learning to count was a discovery with the origins of counting cloaked in mystery. Archaeologists and historians estimate that numbers were first used around 32,000 years ago based on the theory of finding rocks and bones with marks on them believed to be what we would now call tally marks.

History lesson over, Hallowe’en costumes are safely back in the closet no longer needed for another 353 days (That being from the date this blog is written), pumpkins no longer on offer in supermarkets and a vast collection of scary movies no longer available at the touch of the remote control.

Remember, remember the 5th November? when Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellar of the Houses of Parliament with 36 barrels of gunpowder 411 years ago. We saw a weekend of spectacular displays with fireworks lighting up the sky, the JezO’s team working on some amazing events providing services to displays across Cambridgeshire and Essex. Who does not love the idea of turning an empty field into an area of entertainment for the public? (I would personally prefer that the British Weather would behave itself, avoid raining and turning down the temperature gage on the rare occasion that I join the team on site!)

The JezO’s Events Headquarters fell silent at 11am today, Armistice day being remembered to mark the end of the first World War back in 1918

What is ‘THE’ next big occasion the majority of us are all counting down to?

Christmas!

Christmas cards and gifts have filled the shops, Christmas music is on the radio and John Lewis have officially launched their 2016 Christmas advert. There is no stopping the countdown now and no hiding from it. Here at JezO’s headquarters we have had exciting meetings this week about the upcoming Christmas light switch-ons, with preparations well underway and switches being designed. It is going to be well worth the wait! Christmas parties being booked and décor and theming being provided throughout December in the lead up to Christmas. Not forgetting the boss is appearing in pantomime throughout December (Have you entered our competition to win four tickets to see JezO perform live on stage in Margate? Take a look at our news feed for full information)

Full of tinsel, fairy lights and hot chocolate replacing coffee, it really is the most wonderful time of the year!

With countdowns happening continuously in our lives, here at JezO’s Events we have our very own countdown-structure available to hire. Making an appearance on all those events where you need that countdown from 10. Building up the atmosphere ready for the BIG finale, the start of the fireworks display, the countdown to turning on your Christmas lights, the launch of a product, the countdown of the last 10 second of the year, or for myself here at the office the countdown to lunch time as I have thought this week walking past the static structure in the warehouse on route to the kitchen.

Who wouldn’t want an LED colour changing digital display at their event?

The Oxford dictionary defines social media as ‘Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking‘. This it does and it appears that there is an endless list of social media sites where we can connect, like, follow, stream, share and react. For us, here at JezO’s Events HQ, being such a sociable bunch this is great! I get to share and tell all of our news, information and fun in so many different ways.

So do you know of all of the ways you can find us within the great big world of social media??

Type in JezO’s Events Ltd into your Facebook search bar and there we are. Our black and red logo. The team are often posting updates on the virtual bulletin board. You can also leave messages on our wall, as well as take a look at videos and photos we have posted in the past. We have also just launched our first Facebook competition (plus I love the new ‘live’ action, something I plan on taking full advantage of over future events). React with Emojis……….. Emoji’s………!! A whole separate blog is needed just for Emojis and their use to communicate.

Stay up to date on all things JezO’s on our Facebook page, like our page then get liking, reacting, sharing and commenting.

2. LinkedIn

Connect. Find. Be Found. Power your career. Learn and Share. As LinkedIn describes this is the purpose for using LinkedIn. Find us on LinkedIn at JezO’s Events Ltd, for business and employment purposes. Connect and follow us on LinkedIn, interact with us as we share our news and opportunities in a professional context.

3. Instagram

You may be thinking “Insta-who?” But trust me you have come across a photo at some point, somewhere that has been “instagrammed” Instagram photos are fun and “Cool”. Something I’m not.

Here at JezO’s we are regularly uploading pictures and videos onto Instagram. Find us at jezosevents.

There is nothing more I love than uploading a picture to tell a story, then choosing a filter to transform the look and feel of the picture and enhance the JezO’s Crew in a 2am field shot, #photoshopping! send to other social media sites as well as sharing to Instagram. Easy.

4. Twitter

There’s nothing better than a good tweet, one that is retweeted time and again, and trending. Short and to the point, giving links to relevant pages on the internet.

Who would not want to watch a video going back to 2010 with JezO magic and laughter show promo? How young does the boss look in that video? More recently you can see the amazing creations from the events team.

Did you know you can find us on Google+? You can find all of the information you need to know about us on one of the Worlds leading search engines. Also Google+ Communities is where you can find us, full of information and pictures about JezO’s Events and the services we provide.

Yes. JezO’s Events Ltd are on Pinterest. Who knew?! A handy tool to post and pin pictures creating your own album. Its also a great way to connect with us and comment, like and re pin things of interest.

8. Tumblr

Last but not least you can find us on Tumblr. Here we post videos and photos, text blogs and music. I personally like Tumblr for its simplicity and diversity. So in search Tumblr type in jezosevents and you are away.
